OUR MISSION

Provide high-quality education and mentorship through vulnerable communication, cultural relevance, and shared positive experiences.

Create inspiring spaces where people learn about themselves and connect with others in the process of expressing and making art/media.

Respect, study, and elevate cultures, people, and art forms that are historically undervalued/misunderstood by presenting music and dance performances, workshops, and other educational material at professional theaters, performing arts centers, schools, universities, and beyond.

WHY

"Flutes at Dawn" is a metaphor. It's about the moment of inspiration and the creative process that gets us there. It's the ah-hah or eureka moment, the spark in a student's eye when something clicks as a new connection is made (with a person or idea); it's about finding new perspectives and ways of relating; it's the peaceful time of self reflection in the morning, the music that plays at the beginning of a new day.

Because my family has been such a big support and part of this journey, Flutes at Dawn is a tribute to my parents' names - Murali, which is the name of the flute Krishna plays in Hindu mythology, and Usha, which means dawn.
