COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
All workshops include team-building and mindfulness exercises. They are designed to accommodate groups of middle school, high school, and college students (age 10-24), as well as adults groups in corporate, non-profit, and other community settings.
Single sessions can be booked throughout the year as well as cumulative programs lasting 4 to 36 weeks.
MUSIC PRODUCTION AND SONGWRITING
Through a hands-on, collaborative process, participants learn about composition, beat-making, sampling, and recording, as well as lyrical/melodic approaches and vocal techniques. Emphasis is placed on honest and vulnerable self-expression and cross-cultural understanding. Workshops are 2 hours long and can be booked as single sessions or as a series of 5-10 sessions. Groups sizes range from 5-20 people.
DANCE OF THE AFRICAN DIASPORA
Focusing on dance forms ranging from Salsa to Hip Hop to traditional West African, participants get a workout and a history lesson while learning a piece of choreography. Emphasis is placed on mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. Open to all skill levels, workshops are 45-90 minutes long and can be booked as single sessions or as a series of 5-10 sessions. Groups sizes range from 8-50 people.
STORYTELLING THROUGH FILM
Through a series of brainstorming exercises, writing prompts, improvisations, and discussions, participants work with a professional filmmaker to tell a story using imagery, words, and sound. Emphasis is placed on the art of the metaphor and creative use of available resources (locations, people, and items). Workshops are 2 hours long, with a minimum of 5 sessions per group project. Group sizes range from 3-15 people.
